Review Highlights

Can create inventories by scanning receipts

Only as smart as the person using it

Introduction

“Smart” appliances were on full display at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. LG brought a full complement of connected cooktops, fridges, washers and dryers, including the Smart ThinQ fridge. It’s definitely got some cool features: Scan a grocery receipt with your phone and it’ll create an inventory list, or enter your height and weight and it’ll recommend recipes based on what foods you have and how healthy you are. The drawback? It’s not a sentient being, so it’s only as effective at keeping an inventory as the user is thorough.
