Introduction
Haier may be one of the world’s largest appliance manufacturers, but their household wares are relatively unknown in the US outside of mini-fridges. They’re aiming to change that at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, with a strong showing of their entire lineup. The HT21TS77S, built in Camden, SC, is their newest fridge, designed specifically for the US market. We’re eagerly anticipating the chance to test it.

Fisher Paykel E522BRX 17.6 Cu. Ft. Bottom Freezer Stainless Steel Review
Proving that counter-depth fridges can perform just as well as their full-sized big brothers, the Haier HT21TS77S delivers performance that ranges from adequate in some areas to outstanding in others. It manages to provide solid temperature consistency, decent humidity control, and an excellent freezer that outperforms many full-sized versions. At the end of the day, though, it is still a counter-depth fridge, offering less storage space than even some of the smallest, and cheapest, full-sized options. It’s definitely something to keep in mind when determining whether the full MSRP of $1609, or even a sale price of $1400, make this aesthetically pleasing little fridge from New Zealand worth the investment. With an MSRP of $1399, you’d expect really solid performance from the Haier HT21TS77S. What wind up with is a decent fridge and a solid vegetable drawer. Unfortunately, you also get stuck with a fridge that hits you in the electric bill and a freezer that will burn more than it will freeze. Its best asset is a spatial balance between the fridge and freezer, meaning your can store substantial amounts of frozen and fresh goods…but if you can’t get it on sale, why would you really want to?
